Thousands lose power as storms move across Iron Range

Thousands of homes and businesses lost power Monday afternoon as a summer storm system moved across the Iron Range and northeastern Minnesota.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Lake Country Power contuinued to report more than 2,600 members without power and Minnesota Power was reporting 700 customers without power.

Most of Minnesota Power's affected customers are in the Tower area. The company said that it expected restoration in that area by 6:30.
