The winter season officially begins on December 21, but as you know, winter can visit the Northland - ANY TIME.  There is something special about the first few snowfalls where the crystals glisten in the sunshine. The contrast of the white against a blue sky can take your breath away just like the cold temperatures can.

Throughout the year, the WDIO Storm Team asks viewers to email or share their weather photos with us. The pictures are often used LIVE during our weather forecasts and shared on one or more of our social media platforms.

We also create a Photo Gallery of viewers photos so you can see the best views of Northern Minnesota, Northwest Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan.  We will try and include at least one image from each viewer in our photo gallery. A new gallery will be created for each season.

While winter can seem like it lasts forever, we consider the months of December, January, and February to be winter.

Viewers wishing to share their winter pictures may do so by emailing weather@wdio.com or by sharing a photo on one of our social media accounts.  WDIO Facebook, Twitter and Instagram .  Don't forget to use #wdionews too.
