The Gophers men's basketball team landed talented big man Liam Robbins on Sunday night. He tweeted the news that he's leaving Drake after two seasons to come to Minnesota.

The NCAA is expected to look at the possibility of transfers being eligible immediately at their new school, on a one-time basis. If that legislation passes, Robbins could slide into the spot Daniel Oturu vacated when he turned pro as soon as next season. If it doesn't pass, Robbins will have to sit out before becoming eligible for the 2021-'22 season.

The Gophers have strong ties to Robbins, a native of Davenport, Iowa. Robbins is the nephew of Minnesota associate coach Ed Conroy.

As a sophomore Robbins averaged 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds a game, while shooting 49.9% from the field. His best skill might be blocking shots. Robbins ranked fifth in the nation in blocks with 2.91 per game last year. His 99 blocks were a Drake school record.

Robbins was named second-team all-Missouri Valley Conference as a sophomore.
