Celebration Set for UMD's Hobey Baker Winner Scott Perunovich

Back in April, University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) defenseman Scott Perunovich was awarded the Hobey Baker Award via a virtual ceremony due to COVID-19.

He became the sixth Bulldog to claim the award in its 40 years of existence.

Wedesday is was announced a celebration is set for August to honor the Hibbing native. Perunovich will be honored for winning the Hobey Baker at a golf outing and banquet set for Aug. 6 at The Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

Perunovich led the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHS)in scoring and assists with 34 before the season was called off. He helped the Bulldogs win back-to-back national championships during his time at UMD.

Perunovich signed a two-year entry contract with St. Louis Blues back in March after the abrupt ending to the hockey season.

Also being honored at the event will be fellow Hobey Baker Hat Trick nominees Jordan Kawaguchi a forward for North Dakota and Maine goaltender Jeremy Swayman. Former coach Rick Comley, who won 738 career games and two national titles, will be honored as the Hobey Baker Legend of College Hockey for 2020.
