Voyageurs National Park has earned a dark sky certification.

The International Dark-Sky Association recognized the park for its exceptional dark skies and commitment to keep them that way.

Voyageurs staff have a light management plan to minimize impacts to natural light and make sure the electricity they do have is energy efficient.

Staff and members of the Voyageurs Conservancy group will conduct annual meter readings to monitor dark sky quality.

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness was also recently recognized for its dark skies.
