DNR suggests hunters use online registering system

The Wisconsin firearms deer season opens on Saturday. If you harvest a buck, be sure to register it. Due to COVID-19, the DNR is suggesting hunters use their online reporting system.

"Online registration through our 'Go Wild' and on using your smartphone or phone in. We do have some in-person stations for those that are still old school or for some at our camps that come up north. We'll require registration by 5 P.M. the day after harvest," said DNR Wildlife Biologist Greg Kessler.

The Go Wild registration page can also be reached through the 'Hunt Wild Wisconsin' mobile app.

The app helps users discover new public lands, brush up on regulations, and find carcass disposal locations.

"It can be quite useful especially in a day and age where finding good quality maps is occasionally challenging. If you have good cell reception it shows you air photos, you can see maps. Use it as a hunting aid and also as a way to keep yourself safe and in proper areas where you want to be hunting," added Kessler.
