NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - President Donald Trump says he's considering a quarantine as early as Saturday for coronavirus hotspots in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to stop the spread from reaching states with fewer infections.

Trump says he has spoken with Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, among others, and they've asked him to look into doing it.

But Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo on New York says the issue had not come up in a conversation he had with Trump earlier Saturday and that he didn't “like the sound of it.”

It's unclear whether Trump can order state residents to stay put.
