"It's our second year and it was so successful last year, we wanted to do it again," Eileen Bentzen, with Visit Iron River, said.  "We have 32 mushers coming."

The mushers are coming from all over, including as far as Missouri, to participate in the six different races.

Bentzen said spectators can watch from the Northern Pines Golf Course Event Center, either inside or outside.

"The dogs are excited," Bentzen said.  "It's a very socializing thing for everybody."

Penny Nelson, the volunteer coordinator, said volunteers are an integral part of the whole event.

"We have volunteers along the race course, we have volunteers in the club house," Nelson said.  "It's pretty much all volunteers right now."

Nelson brought a rescue dog named Sapphire along with her.  She said there will be rescue dogs from the shelter at the event on Saturday.

There will be a snowshoe walk, face painting, a raffle, auctions, and more.

The Northern Pines Sled Dog Race is this Saturday, February 15 in Iron River, Wisconsin.  Visit the website here for more.
