The network announced Wednesday that it has ordered a pilot for the series.  It will follow the now 30-something children of the cast from the original series, which ran from 1987 to 1991 highlighting a tight-knit group of baby boomers and their struggles.

“thirtysomething” creators Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick are working on the new show, which is slated to feature original cast members Ken Olin, Mel Harris, Timothy Busfield, and Patty Wettig.

The original series earned 13 Emmy® Awards and two Golden Globe® Awards.
