Wisconsin child care facilities limited to 50 children

In the latest response to the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Tony Evers has imposed limits on the number of children and staff members who can be present at Wisconsin child care facilities.

Effective 8 a.m. Thursday, March 19, facilities may no thave more than 50 children and 10 staff members at a time.  The closure will remain in effect until further notice.

"This is another step forward to ensure that service continues, while protecting our child care providers who are going above and beyond their regular duties to support our families, communities, and state," Evers said in a news release.

Evers is asking child care providers to priorities families of healthcare and essential service providers, and asking parents who are able to keep their children home to do so.

The Evers administration is also exploring options to provide on-site child care for healthcare workers in some cases.
