Thousands of pounds of food given away

A prime example of neighbor helping neighbor played out in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Bent Paddle Brewery and Clyde Ironworks teamed up with Sysco Foods, Minnesota to give away thousands of pounds of fresh produce.

With folks staying at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Minnesota food distributor, Sysco Foods has refrigerated warehouses filled with fresh produce with no where to go.

The entire parking lot of Bent Paddle Brewery was taped off and people were allowed inside one by one. Strict social distancing measures were followed, organizers even had protective gloves for every participant.

Although the line stretched for two full blocks, the goal was a quick in and out, like a safe and sanitary trip to the grocery store.

They expected to pack up between 100 to 150 large bags of fresh produce and not stop until it was all given away.
