Minnesota Pollution Control Agency representatives were at the Arrowhead Ice Fishing and Winter Show to ask anglers to try not to use lead fishing tackle.

Noelle Hitz was at their table in the lobby promoting the "Get the Lead Out" campaign.

"Our goal is to educate Minnesota residents about the dangers of lead fishing tackle and how they are harmful to loons and also children," she said.

Hitz says nearly 98 percent of fishing tackle in stores is lead. If anglers filled out a short survey, they got some lead-free tackle to try out.
