During this pandemic, a Duluth Heights woman is helping feed the kids in her neighborhood, by providing sack lunches on the weekends. Netta Birgans has a big heart, and the Duluth police department recently helped her stock her kitchen.

The Salvation Army says 20 of its staff members tested positive for the coronavirus after attending a conference in Finlayson. None required hospitalization.


Local unemployment rates decline, but still higher over year

Unemployment rates in the Northland continue to fall but are still significantly higher than they were last year at this time. Regionally, Beltrami, Lake, and Washburn counties have the lowest unemployment rate at 4.5% while Iron County had the highest rate at 8.2%.
